Continuing Education Panel Discussion

Thursday, September 16th, 5:30 PM  at Davanni's in Edina

Please join us on Thursday, September 16 for an AWC Twin Cities Learning and Networking meeting. To start out our program year we are hosting a panel discussion on continuing education and certifications for IT professionals. We have gathered a knowledgeable group of local professionals to answer questions about trends in continuing education.


Panelist Bios

Sharon Jirak
Sharon Jirak is a senior instructor at Dunwoody College. She has been with the computer networking department since 2002 and has taught students in networking, software and hardware courses, windows shell scripting, VBScript, Powershell, Windows Client and Windows Server. She has also helped many of her students towards their certifications such as A+. Sharon holds a Bachelor of Technology from the University of Northern Iowa in Industrial Technology and has certifications in A+, Net+ and MCP. She is currently working on a Master's of Management Information Systems degree at Metro State. Sharon feels her strengths while working in industry have been in the areas of electronics, hardware, industrial programming and scripting.

Steve Zitnick
Steven M. Zitnick is the Director of the Augsburg MBA program and Assistant Professor of Management, Augsburg College. Professor Zitnick brings over 25 years of Fortune 500 international corporate experience as a human resources and organization development executive and consultant. He has been both an adjunct and continuing faculty at Augsburg in the Business Department for over 10 years. He was appointed Director of the MBA Program in 2007. Zitnick attended University of Chicago and has a Bachelor of Arts from Shimer College and a Master’s of Science in Economics and Management from the University Of Utah Eccles School Of Business. Steven did his doctorial work at Tilburg University (Netherlands).

Joy Lewis
Joy Lewis has been a Community Relations Specialist at ITT Tech since 2008. In this role she has developed in-bound and out-bound community relations events, developed a Partners in Education program in which high school seniors could attend ITT and get up to four free classes and launched an Explorers Post for visual communications and game design. She also designs and delivers motivational presentations. Prior to ITT Tech she spent 18 years in the performance motivation industry working with Fortune 500 companies.

Karen Little
Karen Little is a professional with 20+ years experience in application development, project management, project and application portfolio management, and people management in a broad range of industries and hardware/software platforms, with a focus on custom application development, package implementations and process improvement initiatives. Over the course of her career she has been certified in project management (PMP), IT processes (ITIL) , business analysis (CBAP), Scrum (CSM) and has achieved vendor certifications such as Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). She is heavily involved in the local chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and contributed to the Business Analyst Book of Knowledge v2.0 from the International Institute of Business Analysts.
